We are currently basking in the cool, cloudy climate of Cork. It is 9:30 here. Everyone is nestled in their own room. If you want to know how to put 16 twenty-somethings to bed before 10PM, keep them up for 36 plus hours, run them through three airports, and end the day by stuffing them with a hearty Irish meal. It seems to do the trick!
This is my fourth international learning class to Ireland and this group is already showing their grit. We began the trip with an unexpected three-hour delay in our own Standiford airport. In turn, this led to landing in Philadelphia and racing to the departure gate just in time to board the plane to Dublin. Once in Dublin, we waited by our bus to Cork for our driver to arrive (who was inside the airport waiting for us). Zoom ahead another four hours and we were sitting at tables at the Oliver Plunkett restaurant exhausted and hungry. And in that moment, I was so proud of our group! Everyone was smiling, laughing and appreciating the fact that we had made our destination! Not a hint of grumpiness. Even when I reminded them that class in the morning begins at 8:30AM.  --Eileen
